Manga Drawing

Tuesday, March 28, 2023—4pm to 6pm

Manga is a unique form of illustration that originated in Japan and is used in comic books and graphic novels. If you’re kid who’s a fan of the art form, drop by the Marathon County Public Library’s Wausau Headquarters on March 28 to try your hand at drawing some yourself! Attendees will learn about manga drawings and make their own manga art, with instruction provided by library staff! Hands-on Plants Workshop: Lotion Bars

Tuesday, March 28, 2023—6pm

Celebrate spring in the Gardens by learning and creating with local guest teachers! Enjoy time in nature, and a glass of wine or cocoa, while you get your hands on creative projects. Every day is a great day to learn something new. Come join Herbal Soap N’ Salves in learning how to make lotion bars using herbs grown here in Central Wisconsin. Learn about infusions, coloring, and the various ingredients needed to make these wonderful lotions. Hands-on participation is encouraged but not required. See More Here!

Yamato: The Drummers of Japan

For over 25 years, Yamato’s acclaimed performances of Japanese Taiko drumming have captivated millions of people across the globe. They’ve brought their thunderous music, astounding athleticism, and infectious showmanship to 54 countries in over 3,500 performances. Yamato’s performance will capture the group’s virtuosity, strength, spirit, and sheer endurance. 2023 WI Biennial Exhibition: Opening Celebration

Friday, March 31, 2023—5pm

The theme of “Regeneration” was chosen to highlight the regeneration of the oldest arts organization in the state as WI Craft. Additionally, the changes in our members’ personal and professional lives over the last several years have led to a renewed sense of purpose and/or new directions in many of their individual art practices. Artists are encouraged to submit artwork that reflects ways in which they have regenerated their work or practices since our last Biennial in 2020. Click here for more information.

Mozart’s Requiem: A Community Choral Concert


Sunday, Apr 2, 2023—3pm

Free to the community, this special concert event features the Wausau Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Larson and a full choir of local voices performing Mozart’s dramatic choral masterpiece, made famous in modern popular culture from the 1984 Oscar-winning movie, Amadeus. Mozart composed the piece in 1791, but did not complete the work before his death. In his final days, Mozart came to believe he was writing the Requiem for his own funeral, pouring his creative genius into what is considered one of the most stirring and awe-inspiring classical choral works ever written.
